CBCT Bootcamp

Everything you need to know to read at a high level, improve patient outcomes and not get sued

The 2026 ADA / AAOMR guidelines are clear: if you take a CBCT scan, you are responsible for reading and reporting on the entire image, including any incidental findings. And if you are not able to read a sufficiently high level, referral to a radiologist is recommended. Recent malpractice cases remove any doubt - the liability lies with the dentist who took the scan, or if referred, with the radiologist who reads it.

“The dentist who orders or uses CBCT is responsible for interpreting… all findings within the scanned volume, even those outside the primary area of interest. This is a professional and legal requirement, and the standard of care for interpretation applies whether they specialize in radiology or not.

For complex cases or a lack of expertise, referring the scan to a specialist in oral and maxillofacial radiology is a recommended means to provide higher-level patient care and mitigate the risk of missing clinically relevant incidental findings.

-Benavides, Erika et al.¹

CBCT is an indispensable tool in the practice of all fields of dentistry, and with this heightened focus on the importance of both effective and comprehensive scan interpretation, it has never been more important to improve your CBCT reading skills.

With 12 hours of lectures and workshops spread across three days, this bootcamp will cover the safe and effective use of CBCT in dental practice, typical presentation of pathology in CBCT scans, a thorough review of incidental findings, and application of CBCT in advanced practice such as Implant Site Evaluation, Airway Evaluation for Obstructive Sleep Apnea and TMJ Anatomy, Pathology, & Joint Stability.

This learning concludes with an extensive workshop offering attendees the opportunity to apply what they have learned, interpret images in a guided structured format and practice appropriate documentation.

Lectures and Workshops will be lead by Brilliant Dental Continuing Education’s own Dr Kate Dubois.

Our Dental Continuing Education trip is suitable for all dentists including General Dentists, Oral Surgeons, Endodontists, Orthodontists, Periodontists, Implantologists, and practitioners of Oral Medicine. Accommodation & Pricing

We’ve booked out all the rooms in a boutique private hotel in the heart of Seville for this trip. The hotel has 10 suites with Queen beds and breakfast will be provided every day. We will be learning on site for three mornings.

As this is a boutique trip, we have priced rooms based on single occupancy, but there’s always room for a plus one, and so we’ve priced our +1 supplement very reasonably. Whether it’s your spouse, travel buddy or partner in practice / crime, if you’re happy to share a bed, we’d love to have them!

We also have special pricing for two dentists sharing, and can provide joint or individual invoices, maximising the tax-efficiency of the trip for both attendees.

Single Occupancy Room

$6000 / person

Add a guest to your room

+$3000

Two Dentists Sharing

$4500 / person

Tax Deductions

As a necessary work-related expense, travelling for continuing education is an eligible tax deduction. We will provide all of our learners with an itemised invoice that breaks down the headline price into line items including the cost of the CE and accommodation (normally 100% deductible) as well as food and entertainments (typically 50% deductible) so you can account for the trip accurately and fairly. We recommend you seek advice from a qualified accountant if you have specific questions.

What You'll Learn
